On behalf of the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music may I extend a warm welcome to you all to Fís 24. Fís represents the vision of our students, our staff, our department and DkIT and it is a wonderful opportunity for both industry leaders and local communities to come together and enjoy creativity and the arts in the creative hub of Dundalk Institute of Technology.

Throughout the year we host a range of events to showcase our student work including film screenings and performances by our music and theatre students. Fís is the final showcase of graduate student work from BA Creative Media and BA (Hons) Creative Media. It is a wonderful event in which to celebrate the achievements of our students who have worked so hard to bring together all of the skills they have learned on their programme of study to produce the projects that they showcase at Fís.

I am always astounded by the imagination and creativity of our students in producing excellent projects that innovatively portray a range of current themes and issues. I commend each of our students on bringing their concepts to reality through a variety of media.

We encourage our students to be innovative and in the Department we pride ourselves in seeking out opportunities for students to engage in industry related projects which will help in the development of key skills that will prepare them for their exciting future in the Creative Industries. I am confident that our students will become leaders and innovators in their respective fields and I look forward to following their futures.

I encourage each of our students to take great pride in their achievements to date and be proud of having completed their programme of study at DkIT. We will be continuing to develop our industry links and in the future some we hope that some of our graduates will be employers who will take the next generation of our students on placement or offer them employment and encourage them in advancing their knowledge and skills.

I warmly encourage everyone to join with us to experience and try out some of the projects being exhibited this year.

The success of an event such as this depends on the dedication and commitment of our students and supervisors who have nurtured the students on their learning journey. I thank them all for their preparation for this event. In particular, I extend a particular word of thanks to JJ Quinlan who has curated this year’s exhibtion Gabhaim buíochas le gach duine atá ag glacadh páirte agus le gach duine a chabhraigh lena n-eagraíocht.
