On behalf of the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music may I extend a warm welcome to you all to Fís 21. Fís represents the vision of our students, our staff, our department and DkIT and it is a wonderful opportunity for both industry leaders and local communities to come together and enjoy creativity and the arts in the creative hub of Dundalk Institute of Technology.
Throughout the year we host a range of events to showcase our student work including film screenings and performances by our music and theatre students. Fís is the final showcase of graduate student work from the Department and is a wonderful event in which to celebrate the achievements of our students who have worked so hard to produce their projects and installations being exhibited as part of Fís. This year we are delighted to be showcasing the work of students from the BA in Media Arts and Technology, BA (Hons) in Communication in Creative Media, BA (Hons) in Drame and Performance (Add-On), BA in Theatre and Film Practice and the BA in Audio and Music Production.
There is great diversity of work being undertaken by our students. While the students on each of these programmes have a different focus on their programme of study, each student has the opportunity to develop their skills in creativity. We encourage our students to be innovative and in the Department we pride ourselves in seeking out opportunities for students to engage in industry related projects which will help in the development of key skills that will prepare them for their exciting future in the Creative Industries. I am confident that our students will become leaders and innovators in their respective fields and I look forward to following their futures. I encourage each of our students to take great pride in their achievements to date and be proud of having completed their programme of study at DkIT. We will be continuing to develop our industry links and in the future some we hope that some of our graduates will be employers who will take the next generation of our students on placement and encourage them in advancing their knowledge and skills.
The success of an event such as this depends on the dedication and commitment of our students and staff and I thank them all for their preparation for this event. Gabhaim buíochas le gach duine atá ag glacadh páirte agus le gach duine a chabhraigh lena n-eagraíocht.
